2-Day Saadani Safari from Dar es Salaam
A private 2-day safari from Dar es Salaam to Saadani National Park, Tanzania's only park on the coast, with game drives on both days, a boat safari on the Wami River and a night at a lodge or tented camp in the park.
A Night Where the Bush Meets the Sea
Saadani's grassland and woodland run down to the Indian Ocean, and the Wami River forms its southern edge. Staying a night gives you the best of it: an afternoon game drive when the heat drops, the sound of the bush and the sea at night, and an early boat trip on the river when the light is soft and the animals are active.
On land you can see giraffes, buffalo, warthogs, waterbuck and other antelopes; elephants and lions live here too but are seen less often than in the northern parks. On the Wami River, hippos and crocodiles are common and the banks are full of birds. The trip suits travellers in Dar es Salaam, and guests on Zanzibar who take the ferry across.

Questions Travellers Ask
Why stay overnight instead of a day trip?
The drive is about four hours each way. Staying a night gives you game drives on two days, a morning boat safari when the animals are active, and a much more relaxed pace.
What animals will we see?
Giraffes, buffalo, warthogs, waterbuck and other antelopes on land, and hippos, crocodiles and many birds on the Wami River. Elephants and lions live in the park but are seen less often than in the northern parks.
Can we come from Zanzibar?
Yes. We add the fast ferry from Stone Town to Dar es Salaam and back, with port transfers, for about 95 US dollars per person. The ferry takes about two hours each way.
Where will we stay?
At a lodge or tented camp inside the park, with dinner, breakfast and lunch. We name it when we confirm availability for your dates.
Can we add a night?
Yes. A second night gives time for a beach walk and more game drives. Ask us for a price.
