These Terms & Conditions govern all bookings made with Lion Crest Expeditions (trading as "Lion Crest Safaris," "Lion Crest," "we," "us"), a business registered in Tanzania under the Business Names Act (BRELA Reg. No. 714566). By requesting a quote, confirming an itinerary, or making a payment to us, you (the lead booker and all members of your travel party) accept these terms in full.
All prices quoted by Lion Crest Expeditions are in US Dollars (USD) and are per person unless otherwise stated. Prices exclude international flights, visa fees, travel insurance, tips, and personal expenses unless explicitly listed as included in your itinerary. Published prices on our website and marketing materials are indicative; the price confirmed in your written quotation is the price that applies to your booking. We reserve the right to correct pricing errors before a booking is confirmed. Government-set fees (including national park and conservation fees) in Tanzania may change with little or no notice; where this happens after your itinerary is issued but before departure, we reserve the right to pass on the increase to you.
A booking is provisional until a deposit is received. We require a 50% deposit of the total itinerary cost to confirm your booking. The remaining 50% balance is paid on arrival in Tanzania, before your safari begins.
We cannot guarantee accommodation, vehicles, or activities until the required payment has been received, as many of our lodge and camp partners require advance payment to hold reservations. Payments can be made by bank transfer, credit card, or debit card (Visa and Mastercard accepted). The lead booker is responsible for ensuring full payment is made on behalf of the entire travel party.
The 50% deposit paid to confirm your booking is non-refundable under any circumstances, regardless of when you cancel. No refund of the deposit will be given for any cancellation, for any reason, at any time before departure.
Cancellations must be submitted to us in writing (email is sufficient). Where unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances at your destination significantly affect your trip, we will assess cancellation requests on a case-by-case basis and may waive this policy at our discretion.
We will do our best to accommodate requested changes to dates, itinerary, or travelers, subject to availability and the policies of our accommodation and activity partners. Changes requested within 25 days of departure may be treated as a cancellation of the original booking, subject to the charges in Section 3, plus the cost of the new arrangement.
We will only cancel a confirmed booking in circumstances beyond our reasonable control (see Section 9, Force Majeure), for non-payment, or where your conduct puts other travelers, guides, or staff at risk. Where we cancel for reasons other than your own conduct or non-payment, you will receive a full refund of amounts paid, or, where possible, we will offer a comparable alternative itinerary.
It is your responsibility to ensure you hold a valid passport, any required Tanzania entry visa, and any vaccination or health documentation required for entry. We are not liable for any cost, delay, or denied entry resulting from incomplete or invalid travel documents. We recommend checking current entry requirements with the Tanzanian embassy or consulate in your country before booking.
Comprehensive travel and medical insurance, including cover for emergency medical evacuation, is mandatory for all travelers on a Lion Crest Expeditions safari. We recommend insurance that also covers trip cancellation, curtailment, and loss of personal belongings. Proof of insurance may be requested before departure.
If you or anyone in your party has a medical condition, disability, or fitness limitation that may affect your safari, please tell us in writing at the time of booking so we can advise on suitability. We reserve the right to decline or adjust a booking where we reasonably believe we cannot safely accommodate a traveler's needs.
Safari travel involves inherent risks, including but not limited to wild animal encounters, rough and remote terrain, variable weather, limited medical and evacuation infrastructure compared to your home country, and travel-related illness. By booking with us, you acknowledge and accept these risks as an inherent part of the experience, and agree to follow the safety instructions of your guide at all times.
We are responsible for the safari services we directly arrange and confirm with you. We are not liable for the acts, omissions, or service failures of independent third parties not engaged by us (such as airlines, or activities you book independently once on safari), except where required by Tanzanian law. Our liability for a confirmed booking is limited to the total amount you paid to us for that booking, except in cases of death or personal injury caused by our negligence, where liability is not limited.
We are not liable for any failure to perform our obligations where this is caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disaster, extreme weather, civil unrest, government action, epidemic or pandemic, or transport disruption. Where such an event prevents us from delivering a booked service, we will work with you in good faith on rescheduling or partial refunds where recoverable from our own suppliers, but cannot guarantee a full refund in these circumstances.
If an issue arises during your safari, please raise it with your guide or with us directly (via WhatsApp or phone) as soon as possible so we can try to resolve it while you are still on safari. If unresolved, please submit a written complaint to info@lioncrestsafaris.com within 28 days of the end of your trip.
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Any dispute arising from a booking with Lion Crest Expeditions is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tanzania.
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The version in effect at the time you confirm your booking (by paying your deposit) is the version that applies to your trip.
