3-Day Tarangire Walking Safari
A private 3-day safari from Arusha to Tarangire National Park that adds what a vehicle cannot: walks through the bush with an armed park ranger, between game drives among Tarangire's elephants and baobabs.
Slow Down and Walk
On foot the bush feels different. You notice tracks in the sand, dung that tells you who passed in the night, birds you would drive past, and the smell of wild sage. An armed Tarangire park ranger leads every walk, with your guide alongside, and keeps a safe distance from large animals.
Day 2 has a long morning walk of more than four hours, with a game drive in the afternoon; day 3 has a shorter walk before the drive back to Arusha. Tarangire is best known for its large elephant herds, especially in the dry season from about June to October, when the animals gather along the Tarangire River.

Questions Travellers Ask
Is a walking safari safe?
Every walk is led by an armed park ranger who knows the area and keeps a safe distance from large animals. You walk in single file, quietly, and follow the ranger's instructions at all times.
How fit do I need to be?
The walks are at an easy pace on mostly flat ground, but the long walk lasts more than four hours in the heat. Average fitness is enough.
Can children join?
The park's walking safari fees start at 12 years, so we plan walks for guests aged 12 and over. Younger children can join the game drives.
Can we do a night game drive?
Only where the park allows it, usually from lodges with permission. Tell us when you book and we will check; the park fee is 59 US dollars per person.
When is the best time?
June to October, the dry season, when elephants and other animals gather along the Tarangire River and the grass is short.
