Nyerere, Tanzania's largest national park, is wild and quiet, with the Rufiji River and its lakes at its heart. Three nights give you game drives for elephants, giraffes, lions and wild dogs, and a boat safari among hippos, crocodiles and countless birds.
Then you drive back to Dar es Salaam and take the fast ferry to Zanzibar for four nights at a beach hotel, with time to rest or add a spice farm visit or a Stone Town walk with our licensed Zanzibar partner.

Why Nyerere instead of the north?
It is closer to Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, much quieter, and offers boat safaris on the Rufiji River.
Can we fly instead of the ferry?
Yes. Flights from Nyerere to Zanzibar save the drive and the ferry; ask us for a price.
When is the best time?
June to October for the safari. Zanzibar is pleasant most of the year; April and May are the wettest months.
Do we need special insurance?
Yes. Zanzibar requires its own inbound travel insurance, 44 US dollars per person.
