Mikumi Day Trip from Zanzibar by Flight
A safari day out from Zanzibar: a light aircraft takes you to Mikumi National Park on the mainland, you spend the day on a private game drive with your own guide, and you fly back to the island in the afternoon.
Mikumi is the national park closest to Zanzibar by air, about an hour's flight away. Its open grassland, the Mkata floodplain, makes animals easy to spot: elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo and many kinds of antelope graze here, and hippos rest in the pools.
Because the flight replaces a long road journey, you get several hours in the park and are back at your beach hotel in the early evening. It is a good choice if your holiday is on Zanzibar and you want to add one day of safari.

Our driver collects you from your hotel early in the morning and takes you to Zanzibar Airport. The flight to the airstrip inside Mikumi National Park takes about an hour in a light aircraft.
Your guide meets you at the airstrip with the safari vehicle, and the game drive starts straight away. You explore the Mkata plains, the waterholes and the hippo pools, where elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo and antelope come to feed and drink.
Lunch is served in the park, at a lodge or as a picnic, depending on where the animals are. After lunch you carry on with the game drive until it is time to return to the airstrip.
