Moments from the Trip
Your driver-guide meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and drives you about an hour to your lodge near Arusha. Your room is ready with flowers and a bottle of sparkling wine waiting for you.
There is nothing to do today except rest after the flight. In the evening your guide joins you for a short briefing on the days ahead.

After breakfast you drive about two hours to Tarangire. The park is known for its big elephant herds, which are largest in the dry season, and for the old baobab trees that stand all over its plains.
You spend the day on game drives with a picnic lunch in the park, and reach your lodge near Tarangire in the late afternoon.

An unhurried day. You can take an early game drive in Tarangire, or simply enjoy breakfast at the lodge, before driving up through Mto wa Mbu and the green farmland around Karatu into the Ngorongoro highlands.
You arrive in the afternoon with time to relax, and watch the sun go down over the crater from the rim.

You go down into the crater early, when the light is soft and there are fewer vehicles. The crater floor holds lions, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, hippos and, with luck, the rare black rhino.
After a picnic lunch you climb out of the crater and drive west across the plains into the Serengeti, with a game drive on the way to your camp in the centre of the park. It is a long but memorable day.

A full day in the Serengeti. The central area around Seronera has lions, leopards and cheetahs all year, and the plains stretch as far as you can see.
Luxury level: the day starts with a hot-air balloon flight at sunrise, about an hour over the plains, followed by breakfast in the bush. Mid-range level: you can add the balloon flight for about 599 US dollars per person.
In the evening your camp sets up a private dinner for the two of you out in the bush, with lanterns and a campfire.

After a last morning game drive your guide takes you to the Seronera airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar. It is a small scheduled plane that usually stops on the way, so the trip takes a few hours.
Our driver meets you at Zanzibar Airport and takes you to your beach resort on the island's north coast, in time for sunset.

A free day on the beach. The north coast of Zanzibar has white sand and clear water, and the sea stays good for swimming for more of the day than on the east coast, where the tide goes far out.

Spend the day as you like. In the late afternoon you board a traditional wooden dhow for a sunset sail along the coast, with drinks and snacks on board.

Questions Couples Ask
When is the best time for a honeymoon safari?
Most couples travel between June and October, or from late December to February, when the weather is drier on safari and on Zanzibar. April and May bring the long rains; some lodges close then and others offer lower rates.
Can we change the plan?
Yes. It is a private trip, so we can add nights, swap a park, change the order or choose a different beach. Tell us what you have in mind and we will send you a new plan and price.
Is the safari private?
Yes. You have your own vehicle and your own guide for the whole safari. You only share the small plane to Zanzibar with other travellers.
What is the difference between Mid-range and Luxury?
The route and the honeymoon extras are the same. Luxury uses higher-end lodges and camps, a 5-star beach resort, and includes the balloon flight over the Serengeti.
How do we get from the Serengeti to Zanzibar?
By a small scheduled plane from the Seronera airstrip. It usually stops once or twice on the way. Pack in a soft bag of about 15 kg each; we can keep extra luggage for you.
Do we need to prove we are on honeymoon?
Not for us. Some resorts ask for a copy of your marriage certificate before they give their own honeymoon offers, so it is worth bringing one.
